One Maami makes Babhi kind of platter for daughter. #MaamiBecomesBaabhi . . Maami also bakes Bhindi kurkure until the husband is tensed about current bill. 😊 . . In my plate 😸. 1. Raju'ma my daughter calls it . . . . 2. Baked bhindi kurkure. No recipe as such. Slit bhindi. Coat with besan, rice flour, salt, two spoons of oil. Massage well with out breaking. Baked at the maximum temperature 🌡️ with both coils on and on top rack . Will take some time to crisp. (May be till your spouse is mildly tensed about electricity bill🙃🙃) once done I sprinkled some amchoor black salt and chaat masala. Better than fried but definitely an acquired taste. . . 3. Long post (ext in comments) : #Puliyogare #recipe is my second in Puliyogare/Puliyodharai/Pulihora and tamrind based rice series. I have already posted the Andhra Pulihora Recipe (highlights soon). But Before the recipe is my wisdom on Puliyogare(😀) and recipe credits. Do read it fully if possible.. . First the credits. Recipe is Rohini's Mother in law's. Sri Nandan and Rohini Nandan our Iyengar Kannadiga(Mandya Karnataka) friends from Thanjavur spoilt us with big dabbas of Puliyogare gojju and pudi(for extra spice). I never had a chance to learn the recipe until recently because she usually somehow sends either hers or her mil's. She was kind enough to share her recipe when I ran out. Today I am just sharing whatever she has showed me. Later I will share what I have done. Recipe, Pics,vidoes everything is hers. We got introduced to Kottur Sampath's "Sheshamma Chellammma" (a wry fun filled conversation between two old ladies( (type Kottur sampath in YouTube. It is in audio. Way better than many movie comedies and we like to hear some pleasant subtle conversations like this) through Sri Nandan only . . Second is my wisdom on Puliyogare : I am on that side who say BisiBele Bath and Sambhar Sadam are NOT same. I am also on that side who say Puliyogare and Puli Kachal/Pulisadam are Not same. They might be close cousins with same base. We don't say Rasam and sambhar are same do we? But I have also learnt to not to argue on this. It is an individual's opinion 😊😊. My mom still says fried rice for biryani or pulao 🙏🤷. . . To me a Puliyogare is distinct with copious amounts of Kopra(dry dessicated coconut)even the spices are different. So does Puli Kachal's spice base differ from home to home. If I ask my mother to add koprai to Puli sadam she will think I am crazy. So will my mil. We don't add coriander powder too to Puli sadam. My M's (ma+mil) say it is not sambhar to have coriander powder in it. These are some insights from my home. . Rohini usually makes gojju and then gives us some extra powder for spice(pic2,3). ThiruPavadai is one Seva in Thirumala Thirupathi Devasthanam (TTD) which my cousin Maha(@madmacks06 ) and myself have awed about! We used to awe at the trucks of prasadam kept in fron of our Venkateswara and later continue the awe with open mouth as the prasadam got delivered at ATC cottage where we stayed. As 25 people we used to visit Thirumala every year later it weaned as 'He' got bored of truck load of food we used to take along with us. . Cut to post marriage when MIL said she too makes Maa vilaku for Purattasi Thiruonam happiness grew no bound. Maa Vilaku is Rice soaked in water then dried in cloth then Powdered. The powder is mixed with jaggery and formed to a dough. A well is made in centre and filled with ghee. We light lamp in this. Now this is different in different families. In my side usually two doughs are made and in each a single lamp is lit. In my mil's side it is in single dough and we light two lamps in it. Last week at @shalikuta there was a post about this with an indigenous rice and it was a new learning for me .The page explores more and more about rice varieties in India. . When my daughter was around 4 I wished to recreate the ThiruPavadai Prasadam at home. I am no where near to the original version but slowly I am trying one by one every year. One inner wish is to recreate Thirupathi Ladoo at home! May be if he wishes one day🙏 . . P.S The Venky Mama(Perumal) there is a gift from my school friend Deepika Sarathy. It is made of Vella Eruka Maram(just like Erukampillyar) . Scientifically called Calotropis procera. . . P.P.S This is the second time I am writing this! This is one Family Recipe, Favourite Platter and combo I had been wanting to share for a long time. There is அப்பளம் ஓம கொழம்பு (Papad and ajwain VethaKozhambu) then there is கடல (ground nut) VethaKozhambu. But this is Groundnut and Ajwain Vethakozhambu which is my favourite. Ajwain adds so much flavour to the plain groundnut Vethakozhambu. Definitely won't disappoint the 'VethaKozhambu Lovers' . . Groundnuts crunch and Ajwains flavour pairs amazing with Rice and I almost have it with everything so so yum and ptaka 💥! Finger licking and finger snelling good😅. . Thought of writing down a recipe but why not a video of this? occurred only while I was eating. The next time I am doing I am making a video maybe by next week. A small Seva to Nithya Kalyana Perumal with 'Thirupathi Vadai' , recipe is there in one of my posts down. Then there is Pulinjaadam,Chakara Pongal and Thayir sadam. I made thayir sadam like how they make in temples so that I can Delish it with the vadai. That is one super super combo😁. The curd rice has to be lukewarm. And ofcourse we rob a bit of maavilaku when we cross the table. This year I was not able to elaborate much except vadais. P.S The flower idea is my daughter's only😍😍. Not in picture is fat fat Temple style dosais with raw rice, venpongal and Rasam. Dosai and Venpongal was also a prasadam but has as breakfast. There is no day without rasam as a little fellow cannot do without it. One favourite North Indie Combo plate. For the chutney ingredients please swipe. It is still kind of good green inspite of using tomatoes and onions and less coriander because I added some 'kacha' mustard oil at end. One pickle is must. So today it was Avakai style Karonda. . . Using Ammi kal/ Sil Batte is not new to me. My landlords at Thanjavur had a super excellent big ammi and bigger kozhavi fixed at their back yard and I was free to use it whenever I wanted. With Marudhani/Mehendi leaves readily available Mother in law and I used to pluck and when my daughter used to play with other kids we would be ready to surprise her with fresh hand ground 'Marudhani ' . Slowly over the years I got used to a BIG Kozhavi . And this green chutney is my MiI ingredients completely all credits to her. Stopped doing all such things when my son was born. After 2 years here finally bought a sil batta just two days before lockdown started with so many plans but my voice has strengthened well than my arms😅😅. Took it out after many days and right in time my help turned in to instruct me. She doesn't believe that I know to use it🤭🤗. Anyway she loved the chutney and Paratha. . Saving all Paratha stories for next time. And I really don't like a curd cup coming inbetween us😅 .
