A bit more progress on deadlift. 10 x 2 sets at 165kg (363.7lbs). Previous best was 160 for 10. This set took about 48 seconds, whereas in the past sets of 10 at this effort would have taken me over a minute. Pace is notable because I don’t feel I need as long to setup the technique each rep. It’s starting to feel more natural.
A few days ago I managed 180kg for 2 sets of 5. Wasn’t satisfied with the technique, though, as there was a bit of twist in my spine I wanted to understand. Managed to sort it out today after discussing ideas with @jonsontan and @ianmac_nsb . Thanks for the troubleshooting, boys.
Again, 165 for 10 and 180 for 5 is not very impressive compared to individuals who actually focus on lifting weights. But I don’t have a weight goal with these. Technical exploration and curiosity about my capacity is enough for me.
I’m just happy to be feeling strong and without pain in this movement, honestly. After multiple back injuries there was a time I told myself I would never be able to deadlift significant weight.
Strangely enough it was only after I gave up any concern with weight, and just focused on feeling good in the movement starting with very light weights (less than 70kg), that I started to see something like this was possible.
