As a musician I’m opposed to any show of inhumanity and hatred. The violence in the cradle of Christianity, Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) is a tragic reminder of what it can lead to. My thoughts and prayers with those suffering needlessly in this conflict. In a call for peace, here is my canon written on a retrograde of a theme from JS Bach’s The Art of Fugue.
It’s been ages since last time I played Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition, 10 years to be precise. It was a lot of fun to return to this masterpiece during the free time that I had these months. So today you can enjoy the recording of it that I did for @svmusicfestival broadcasting tonight at 8:30 EST Link in the bio
I’m very happy to be participating @verbierfestival virtually this year. On July 24 there will be many of my performances streamed for free on @medici.tv as well as something I’ve recorded for you at home this summer. And today I’m thrilled to be collaborating with @joshuabellmusic for a Brahms Sonata no.3 which we recorded just a few weeks ago. At 1PM EDT link in bio
While some of us are slowly coming to an understanding of unity and responsibility for each other’s safety serving instrumental purpose in our future during tough times, there is nevertheless hope for an eventually better tomorrow. Meanwhile, here is a recording of my Piano Concerto conducted by Giancarlo Guerrero now available for streaming on @DetroitSymphony 's #DSOReplay at dso.org. •• •• •• •• •• #pianist #liveperformance #classicalmusic #composer #daniiltrifonov
Alexander Wustin has died. Covid-19. Truly original composer and a person of a big soul. Without him I might have never moved to Moscow as it was him who recommended me to my teacher Tatiana Zelikman in Gnessin’s School and helped my parents move to the city. Him and his wife were at my every concert in Moscow, I remember their support also during Tchaikovsky competition. Truly heartbreaking news. Memoria 2, Music for Ten, various piano pieces among many other works of his unique style will remain with us. Prayers to his family.
